If you where to try and live a righteous life.Would this make you a righteous person, and by who set of values do you try to follow?
Is it just food for thought,or can one really, truely practice such an idea in todays life style?

Wow, I think that is the deepest question I've seen asked on Yahoo Answers.

I don't think I can answer it because you pose the problem with answering it in the question. By whose values do we judge what is good and righteous?

It really plays on the old saying you can't please all the people all the time.

The only thing I can think of is to try and love everyone and to not act in your own self interest when others stand to be affected. But yet, every decision we make has some effect on others. So, I guess the best I can come up with is just try to be the best person you can and try to not do anyone else intentional harm.

Ultimately, I follow my own values. My values come from many sources including country, culture, neighborhood, friends, family, and even genetics. However, it ultimately falls to me to decide who I'm going to be.

I think the main value is to build a consistent character. A person's character is how other people see that person. You should really think about how you fit in with the world and how you see yourself in it. You have to decide what really matters to you, then build yourself to fit that. Others, whether they hold your worldview or not, will respect that they know where they stand with you and will respect you. This goes a long way towards establishing relationships with other people and dealing with them. Don't try to fit an unreasonable mold. Don't try to be what you can't. Don't be dishonest with yourself, or in how you present yourself to others. People see right through that and distrust you.

The only purpose in your life is that purpose which you define for yourself.

it is possible to live a righteous lifestyle, but you are not righteous unless you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, and then try to live your life in a way that is pleasing to him- You can truly do this in society today...it just requires a lot of perseverance and commitment

Doing and living as God has told us to do, being right in his ways, not of this world ways.
