then christmas comes and we let them believe a man is going to break in our home when we are all asleep and leave them gifts

We teach them not to take things from human strangers, but then we tell them that Santa is "magic". (Which is how he can get through a chimney that has smoke rising through it and fire at its base.) I guess we expect them to assume that there is a difference.

The bigger question is:
Why (especially in big cities) do we let little kids go from door to door at night and ask strangers for candy on Halloween? XD It doesn’t make any sense, but it happens and people do it without giving any second thoughts to it.

Because Christmas isn't a true religious holiday. It is just there so people can make money off it. It does unite a family but it is a waste of money. What happens to the poor children whose parents can not afford to buy them all those fancy gifts while all the kids at school just got new ipods and cell phones and 80 dollar watches. It is not fair. We teach our kids not to take things from strangers because we are afraid that they will harm our kids. How do you guys know that Christmas doesn't harm our kids emotionally?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Taking gifts from Santa is different in taking things from the big bad wolves out there in planet of apes.
That is why mummy has to teach their little children about "Little Red Riding Hood" so they don't get eaten up by the Big Bad Wolf in planet of apes.

Because when I was growing up, there were rumours going around that paedophiles used to aquire children's trust by being nice to them and offering them sweets. The children trusted these people and then ended up traumatised by what the paedophiles did.

Because Saint Nicholas was good, and he isn't a stranger. Plus it's not really from Santa. You should never make your kids believe in Santa, they'll become naive and might think that's what Christmas is about.

Very good point! But Santa isn't really a stranger?!
When you look at it that way it seems different

i felt so much better knowing that it was my parents instead of some deranged man in a red suit going through people houses and leaving things for kids. by today's standers, they're probably arrest him for stalking kids.

When I was a kid, my parents told me he was fake as soon as possible. That's a very good question. Santa is nothing more than a benevolent thug.

Because of the cruel world in which we live, and the opportunistic paedophiles who are permitted to exist therein.
