I keep trying to change my homepage to Yahoo through the Internet Options on my computer, but it won't let me, nor will it let me successfully click on on 'Make Y! my homepage' at the top of the Yahoo main page. I just upgraded, and now everything's all screwy. Is there a way to change back to the old IE, or fix the current problems?

Most of you have suggested to do what I said I couldn't do in the question. Going to Internet Options and typing in the web address doesn't work, neither does clicking 'Make Yahoo my homepage', it always reverts back to microsoft home page.

My father recently "updated" to IE7 and is having the same problem; no matter what, we can't change the home page from MSN.

We followed the idea to un-install IE7 and go back to IE6. However, we ended up having the exact same problem in IE6 (still loaded MSN as home page and we couldn't change it).

We then re-installed IE7 hoping maybe they (Microsoft) had rectified the problem by now, but upon re-installing IE7 the same problem still persists.

I am now trying to do the 'hard sell' to get him to start using Firefox. He is an older man and set in his ways though... So if anyone else has any other ideas to try and help him out I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Go to add or remove programs in the control panel and remove IE 7. IE 6 should load back up for you. You should be able to change the homepage while in the control panel under internet options. Type in http://my.yahoo.com to make yahoo your home page. Try downloading IE7 once again, I had to download it twice to get it to act sort of right. Try downloading Mozilla Firefox, it looks similar to IE 7.

You've asked two things: First if you want to get rid of IE7, click on start, settings, control panel, add/remove programs and the show updates box at the top. When the list loads, find IE7 and click to remove it. After it's removed, close control panel and restart your computer. It will revert back to IE6.

If you just want to fix your home page, while on the internet, click on tools, internet options and at the top you'll see home page:
If you are not on Yahoo at that time, then enter http://www.yahoo.com. Click apply at the bottom, then OK.

all of the above I have tried, as soon as my computer is rebooted, back to msn. I suggest you do as I have. Refuse to let microsoft dictate to you what you can use on your computer and get rid of IE. It is not that MSN is a bad homepage it is being forced to use something you do not wish to. As soon as possible, everyone should also stop using windows.

If you have a firewall or antivirus, then they might prevent you from changing your homepage unless you do it trough their program.

Go to control panel, click on internet options, under general tab, just key in yahoo.com and click on okay.
