I think it is same thing as saying x+1=5, where x=5-1=4.

Integrate both sides to get x+1 = 5x => x = 1/4

Doug

Oops..... I read the 'd' as a differential operator.
My bad ☺ x = 5/d - 1

d(x+1)=5
divie d
x+1= 5/d
subtract 1
x= (5/d)-1

or
d(x+1)=5
distrubute
dx+d=5
subtract d
dx= 5-d
x= (5-d)/d

2006-12-10 13:42:10 · answer #5 · answered by      7 · 0 0

d(x+1)=5
x+1=5/d
x=5/d-1

2006-12-10 13:43:29 · answer #6 · answered by Walking Man 6 · 0 0

d(x+1) = 5
distribute
dx + d = 5
dx + d-d = 5-d
dx = 5 -d
divide eq by d
dx/d = (5-d)/d
x = (5-d)/d

2006-12-10 13:50:59 · answer #7 · answered by rm 3 · 0 0

dx + d = 5
dx = 5-d
x = 5/d - d/d = 5/d -1
