You have spyware of a virus on your computer. Both are capable of doing what you describe. Here are some suggestions I have for ya....

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.

Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

Download SpywareBlaster---http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

It's main features include:
- Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

My guess is they are "spoofing a smtp" (simple mail trasfer protocall)

How email addresses are set up, they are by no means secure.

Using a simple program, or with alittle php knowlage one can forge the "from" in any email... for example... Bush@whitehouse.gov

THESE ARE THE ONES TO WATCH OUT FOR! most times these people will also add code INTO the email, which more times then not will hurt your computer.

And do you know the damming thing about that? it is completely annonomus... all you leave behind when you send an email like that is your IP address that more then likely is forged (proxyed) too.

well I hope that helps.

Email works exactly like regular snail mail. Suppose I am sending a letter to myself with postal service. I can write your address in From: and my address in To:. Then I put this letter in the post box.

This letter will be delivered without any problem because there is no 'verification' process that will make sure that the sender is really who he claims to be.

Same way, when sending emails, one can put an email address such as "12345@cuttingedgequaterhorse.com" in 'From:' header. This email will be delivered to the receiptient without any verification.

This process is also known as SPOOFING.

You need to change your password. They figured out your password and are disguising themselves as you.

This is happening on MySpace all the time.
