Christmas did not get less special for me when I found out that 'Santa' was really my parents (or a man in a costume in a grotto). However it DID get less special for me since I got older, ended up living in a house full of adults, lost virtually all the relatives I have outside the house and it became pretty much a lock-in with food I don't really like and pointless decorations. Not to mention the run-up to it with longer and more stressful working hours and having to spend money I don't really have on things for other people that they don't really want. These days I hate Christmas and I'm not going to apologise for it. Go ahead and say 'Bah, Humbug.' if it makes you feel any better.

Depends which santa you're talking about.

I think it's cool that santa is based on a pagan figure, and even cooler that the giving of gifts comes directly from a Jewish tradition, except that in Judaism we give gifts every day for eight days which just goes to show how generous we Jews are. Obviously, the stereotype of the miserly Jew is a case of the pot calling the kettle black!

Anyway, back to the question... Pagan santa is cool, drunken kiddie fiddler santa is just plain wrong, and satan santa is an interesting twist on the whole story!

actually I think we kinda all knew about santa. I mean, really...who could believe some guy with a beard was running a toy making operation with a bunch of little midgets tinkering away all year making toys for one day. I mean REALLY...!!! Sometimes I think the whole meaning of it has gotten away from a lot of people and personally, even though I have kids, I could do without the pressures of the gift thing. I think that part is a bunch of crap. But since my mother is still alive, I have to break my neck, risk rent, lights and gas in order to get these high priced toys, which are to me, no fun at all. Nothing beats enjoyment like cracking a book or chillin on the computer gaining knowledge. Hope this helps....

Not for me - but I never believed in Santa or Father Christmas in the first place

It did for a while, but now I have a son and it is his first Christmas so I can start the whole Santa thing again!

On the contrary. How old are you? Santa has little or nothing to do with Christmas, it is a time of year that I would love to see extended year round...seems people are just kinder to eachother for this short period of time..why not the entire year?

Found out what about Santa?

No! The magic of him is still there. In the love, and in the giving. But much more the love than the giving.

And it can be fun to "see Mommy kissing Santa Klaus"! That can be more fun.

To know that it is real people who really care about each other is much better.

And Santa is still out there, alive and well, and comin' to a chimney near you!
