I want to know what you look for in a good movie. What is your favourite aspect as well? When you read a review what do you want to know.

For me, it starts with a good story. In the theater, we say "if it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage." The same goes for movies: it has to be a good script. If the story is good, I'll go see actors I've never heard of before.

I also have certain actors I really trust--they always do interesting things, so I go see their movies. Even if I wouldn't normally see that kind of film. I like Viggo Mortensen's work, but I usually avoid films with a lot of violence in them. So I waited until "A History of Violence" came out on HBO, and then I watched it with my DVR, so I knew I'd be able to fast forward if it was too tough to take. (I covered my eyes a couple of times, but I made it through the movie! The acting was really good.)

Since I know that Hollywood pays a lot of attention to how a movie opens, I try to go on the first weekend if a film is something that I'm really interested in, but doesn't usually get made. I really don't think the world needs another "American Pie" movie, so I try to go when there's something really unusual and interesting, so the powers that be will make more creative films.

When I watch a movie it has to have a very original concept and setting. Also the soundtrack has to be good to, for me the soundtrack makes the movie and is usually my favorite aspect. When I read a review I like to hear about what went in to making the movie, how the concept and script came about and how the director and actors feel about the movie and their interpretation of the characters their playing/directing.

I look for strong characterization, and as few car chases / gasoline explosions / mistaken identities as possible.

This means I haven't seen a good movie since The Lion in Winter, but that's my problem.
