My fiancee and soon to be father of my child, just lost his half-brother. He hadn't talked to his brother in over 3 mths and hadn't seen him in who knows how long. His brother and his family had had some fallouts which seperated them. His brother was 28 and had 2 kids. He died of pnenomia a few days ago. My fiancee hasn't been taking this very well and I don't know what to do because I never got a chance to meet him. I got him a card (a little thing that we always do for each other) and I need help on what to put in there. So Help.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for your fiancee and his loss. This sounds all to familiar...I am sure his brother knew he was loved. Time, differences, and distance tend to unfortunately do that.

Try writing in the card how your heart breaks for his loss, and that his brother knew he was loved by him. Tell him you will be there if he needs a shoulder to lean and or cry on.

Another thing I recommend would be in the spring, have your fiancee write a letter to his brother explaining his sorrow over his passing, and then go buy and plant a tree with the letter being buried with the tree. That way every spring and summer when it comes into bloom it will be a reminder of his brother and the love and forgiveness that even death cannot separate.

Peace and love be with you both during this time of sadness.

There's nothing you can do except be there for him. No matter what it takes. He will have to go through the grieving process, but at least he'll know he's not alone, that he has you by his side. Take care.
