I think that people now a days let children watch too much TV. They should be outside or work, because they are growing lazy. Too many children grow up in front of the TV, which leads to ADD, from lack of exercise.

Actually, there is great science done on television and the effects of the brain.
Basically the refresh rate and the specific colors used to create the spectrum (red, green and blue) turn OFF the active part of the brain and force feed information into a brain (be it a child's or adults) if a child is not allowed to learn on their own, "How" to active learn, they will expect all information to be force fed into their brains.
Limiting TV watching helps. Eliminating TV watching helps even more.

Yes I think watching to much television if harmful to children. Not only is there hardly anything apropriate for them, it is not physically good for them either. Children spend time in front of the tv when they could be active and interacting with other children. Limit their time, and don't use it as a babysitter. Children need time with real people more than a screen.
Possible effects could include anything from not being as personable because of their relationship with the screen instead of people, to being overweight, to being violent if they are watching violent programs.

I think that children watching tv should be limited. The media has corrupted many minds, but as they mature, they will be able to distinguish fact from fiction.
The media shapes the world, and youths' minds are shaped by the media. Limitations on tv will allow youths to form their own thoughts and opinions.
Effects: Lack of interest in physical activities, failing grades, 'brain-washing' effect resulting in a demand for certain material goods that will probably be used once.
In fact, humans barely use their cognital thoughts when watching tv. All the brain does is translate the images into sense, triggering reactions.

Yes, I do. Children are very impressionable and they can be taught things on tv that shouldn't even be a part of life for them at some stages. They watch tv--and that's all some of them ever do--they don't have life because tv has corrupted them into confining themselves. some end up not having a life and acquire low-self esteem as well low-confidence in themselves.

Didn't u learn anything from "the cable guy".
The child becomes isolated from the whole society and absorbed in one thing , the T.V. No ability to make friends or share in the usual everyday activities.
But then again, u had to watch T.V to know all this. Now if u will excuse me , I have to watch my favourite show.
