This is the only way they can feel important. To make their existence on earth have a reason or purpose. if it wasn't for Christmas, Santa Clause would not exist. Blacks are the most racist people in this world. I think allowing this month, makes people more racist. If they would just quietly exist there would be less trouble in the world. Act like the norm and they would draw less attention, but no they have their own jive language and actions. Heritage my butt. I'm tired of paying for what my ancestors did back 200 years ago! Get on with life. Now is now and we can't live in the past.

A while back, liberals came up with the assumption that society is to blame for the economic conditions of the blacks. Over time it has been proven that education is the most important factor for economic success for any individual regardless of race. Since blacks do not do well in school it has to be society's fault. They do not do well because they have a poor self esteem. Their self esteem is poor because the school curriculum is "European" orientated. Hence Black History Month.

It has been suggested that you study "white" history. That is false. What you study is American history. In order to understand the present, you have to learn the past. So in order to understand modern democracy you have to learn how it evolved. So that involves studying things like the Ancient Athens, and the French revolution. You have to study the Russian revolution to understand the cold war. Ancient Rome and Greece had a profound impact on modern philosophy, art, and architecture.

The worst thing about about Black History is that there are many inaccuracies. Take for instance Cleopatra and the notion that she was black. It has been proven that is was a direct descendant of the Greek generals of Alexander the Great. It is also known that in order not to dilute the blood lines the Pharohs only had children with their brothers and sisters. So she was not Black. But these liberals think it is o.k. to misrepresent history in order to built up the self esteem of African Americans. And that is wrong.

For many years the history of the black people was almost totally obscured by the totally dominant white population.

Not the history. But the recording of it. There were always black people who did important things, same as any race.

It is very natural to want to reconnect with the people of you're own race, the history of you're own people.

That is a natural feeling for people of any race, just people in general.

So it is very good that there is a Black History Month.

i wouldn't be suprised if black history month was created by white people. a lot of us feel shitty about the actions of our ancestors and are trying to make up for it. or maybe the people in power are just worried about their image. i don't really know. but it's true black people are still not represented enough in our society in many ways. this doesn't mean white people should beat themselves up over something that they didn't do, just try to show that we are all equal (or should be) regardless of our background.

I have a BA in History so I disagree with the comments that the history books are filled with only white American accomplishments. I think during the 1960s society needed a Black History Month to help equal out Americans but now I find we don't need it because our history books are expanding to include accomplishments of all races and genders. I just really disagree with having a history month for one race and not allowing it to another, that is racist.

Because there's so much focus on European's Caucasian's accomplishments the rest of the year. It would be pointless to designate any month as White History Month.

funny how even though there is no white history month, most people (even black people) know more white history than black history.

maybe that's why it gets its own month.

Reverse racisim - The Bastard stepchild of political correctness.
Why is there no National Association for the Advancement of Caucasian People?
The U.S. is 12% black, but the college I attended had a 50% black enrollment quota.
Go Figure.
I am all for equality.
I just don't believe some folks should be more equal than others, Which is the situation we have now.

Because the whole year is about "white history". What do you propose we do for a White History Month?? What would we celebrate, what little known facts would we learn?

Maybe we can learn about colonialism...?
