A garnishment can be a one time action or could be an ongoing . Unless you have an unsatisfied judgment and the creditor runs a levy on your bank account there is no way for them to get your inheritance, and only then if it is deposited into your account. If you are concerned about it don't put it in the bank until you speak to a lawyer or check with the court. You need to make sure your rights are preserved.

Assuming you mean "garnishment", then why would you think they can't? If you are being subject to a garnishment it is because you couldn't (or wouldn't) pay money to someone you owe it to. Why would the source of that money have any bearing?

And if you have owed this money for 5 years and are still trying to get out if it, shame on you!

Quaranishment? You mean garnishment?

Talk to a lawyer.
