I just want to write the simplest of all wills - i.e. "I leave everything to my wife" - with no exceptions or conditions.

Actually when you finally sit down and start writing, you will find it is more complex than that........... You can phone the CITIZEN ADVICE BUREAU and seek their advice. The service is free and very good. Alternatively you could ask AGE CONCERN, who also do a will with a form of explanation to go with it. Your proposed idea of leaving every thing to your wife is fine, providing YOU die before her................think about it. By perhaps arranging a "MIRROR-WILL" to be drawn up, that takes care of either of you departing first. GOOD LUCK.

That stuff happens under the existing testate laws. EVERYTHING will go to your wife....unless you are SUPER rich and strangers come out of the background.
If you live in the UK it is simple. Easy way is to type up a WP document with the old "I Bubbles being of sound mind and body...." Then state what you want to happen when you die. Then get it witnessed by someone who does not benefit from the will...two if you are pedantic. Voila....instrument of testate.

Ohh Just thought ....don't put any freaky 5hit in there. Your executor can easily refuse stuff if he/she thinks it is weird.
