There are two colors of chlorophyll - green is the most efficient given the color spectrum of our sun. The color you see of an object is the color of light that gets reflected from it - so a green leaf is absorbing the rest of the spectrum.
Red chlorophyll isn't nearly as efficient, but it's found in most plants (if I remember correctly) - when the green dies out in autumn, it's the red chlorophyll that makes the leaves change color.
Note that there ARE other colored plants; you can find purple/red maple trees, for example - but they never grow as big as their green counterparts. Green is simply the most efficient.

Tree leaves are actually the reds and yellows you see in the Autumn, but there is a substance called chlorophyll that the tree produces in the spring that allows the tree to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, and feed the tree. The chlorophyll is what turns the leaves green. In Autumn the temperature change causes the tree to stop producing chlorophyll so it changes color back to its natural state(red, yellow) then dies(brown).

They are generally green because of the chlorophyll present in the leaves that allows them to make food with the presence of sunlight and water. This is why the leaves of some trees in temperate countries turn red/brown in autumn and then fall off in winter. There is little or no sunlight and so food cannot be made.

Because chlorophyll makes the trees green for the spring/summer and also makes them red, yellow, orange, and brown for the fall and winter.

Because the most efficient two forms of chlorophyll absorb the red, orange, yellow and blue parts of the spectrum of visible light.
Leaving only green light to reflect from the leaf.

most trees have bark that is brown, and leaves that are green from spring to summer, these leaves sometimes change to other colours when the trees stop feeding in the autumn. so they are said to be red yellow etc at times

actually, plants are transparent in colour..the green colour is because there is a green pigment in the plant/leaves,named chlorophyll that make us see the leaf look green..like the sky n ocean relations..(why the sky is blue...)
