Each mail user is normally protected by a username /password combination when the mail is setup.
If you are calling your mail via a POP3 mail system the mail account will normally hold all the relevant information.
When you open your mail program and request the mails...the local client will use the username/password info to register itself with the provider and get access to your mails.
Somewhere in the system the provider doesnt have or recieve the Username/password info from the client.
Check your account info is filled in correctly.
in OUTLOOK this can be found in "Extras" "Options" "E-Mail Setup"-account info

Try this link:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/network_password_recovery.html

It's a free utility to recover XP network passwords.

I had that happen after I installed wireless, but I've forgotten what I had to do to fix it. And you must be using Outlook, right?
