Eating a healthy diet is always the best. Fruits , Veggies, Protein. Drink Water. Alcohol may not be a good idea. ( Sorry) Stay away from sugar, including white bread and white flour products, no milk products, except yogurt, it has those active good bacteria you need for intestinal health. No nuts, or popcorn. Chicken is the easily digested protein source. Take your meds, get some walking in and I think thats the best advice I can give. Hope that helps a little.

The dietary suggestions you have already been given here are very important. ... Then I would also strongly reccommend that you take a good quality Probiotics supplement and a good herbal aloe product. ... There is one that is excellent that is on the market called; "HERBAL ALOE FORCE". ... It has medicinal natural herbs combined with the Aloe juice that will help a great deal towards healing the colon.
If you are unable to find this product in your health food store,... you can order it directly from: HERBAL ANSWERS, INC. - P.O. BOX 1110 - SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. 12866 - or telephone; (518)581-1968 - or email; aloedoc@aol.com

"The term, inflammatory bowel disease, has been used to refer to both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, the causes of which are unknown."
The cause of which is unknown always cracks me up.
These idiots / bright minds, go to medical school for eight years and practice medicine for a life time and then have the balls to say "cause unknown".
You are what you eat.
The stomachs pH governs the body.
Obviously, this person is lacking something in the diet which normally will facilitate a healthy colon.
Chances are by now the system is so caustic from all the medication to cause the colon to ulcerate.
Find what is missing and you find your cure.
Next.

As far as diet, I would suggest a trial gluten elimination. I have heard of many people with an IBS, chrohns, or ulceritive dx experiencing improvement after going gluten free.
