Try using De-Solv-It, it is in the cleaning section at Wal-Mart. I have never tried it on wax, but it claims on the container that it will take it off. If it does not ask for you money back, it is kind of expensive.

I remember hearing years ago that u can put paper towels over the wax, after scraping off as much as you can, then running a hot iron over the paper towels. The wax will absorb into the paper towels. Keep doing this with a dry spot of the paper towels, until it has all been absorbed.
