Well it's not a permanent fix, but try this. Hold down the Windows Key (the one with the "flag" on it between Ctrl and ALt.) Then push E (for Explorer. Explorer will open, you will see your problem CDROM drive. Now RIGHT click on it, a menu will appear. In the middle it says EJECT, click on that and you've got it. Pain in the butt, but cheaper than buying a new CDROM drive. Chow, best of luck. Nick

Is there a CD stuck? To open a CD drive when the computer is off or is not opening (as long as no CD is blocking it) -- look on the front of your CD drive. You should see a small hole. Take an opened paper clip and stick it in the hole. This manually opens the drive.

There is a tiny button on your CD rom drive that can only be pressed with something very thin. Try using the tip of a paper clip. It is the manual eject button for cd drives.

Next to the eject button, there is a small hole on your CD drive. Insert a small straightened paper clip into that and you will be able to eject the CD tray mechanically. It might just start working. If the drive is mechanically damaged, you may need to replace it.

You will find a tiny hole in the front of your drive next to the eject button. This is where you poke a straightened paperclip and push lightly. Your drive should then open.

The power cable on the drive itself could be loose. If you know how, remove and reinsert the cable. If you don't know how, ask someone who knows about that kind of thing to do it.

it is broken.
or dirty.
don't force it open cos you might break it beyond repair.
make friends with someone with computer know-how and they'll look at it for free.
otherwise i sugest taking it to a computer-fix shop, or bring them round to your house.
