1. The profession of faith: this includes acknowledging that there is no god but thier God (ALLAH) and that muhammad is the messenger of god.
2. The five daily prayers: Includes following a ritual of washing and perescribed movements and facing the direction to Mecca.
3. Paying zakat: Annual tax used to help the poor and others in need.
4. Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan: Eat and drink nothing from dawn to sunset. Reminds them of self discipline, dependance of the Creator and the feelings of the poor.
5. Making a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once: Only if possible.
