I think I'm getting addicted to this question and answer thing. I only started because I genuinely wanted a question answering and now I am hooked on seeing if I can answer other peoples questions. But I should be working. anyone else feel guilty about spending so much time on this?

no,i am glad to hear that other people enjoy answers, why do you have to feel guilty about something that you enjoy so much
do you see heroin addicts or alcoholics feel guilty about their addictions....no...and they are more harmful so a few hours of helping folks out every day is in my opinion a posotive thing
your mind is a wealth of information and by doing answers you are basically giving your brain a "workout"and a healthy mind leads to a healthy body
what i do is allow 2 hours a day on answers and you will be suprised how many answers you can do in that time
carry on doing answers and dont worry, you wont go cold turkey if the internet goes down...ha,ha
good luck

Lol same as that. I am a newbie to internet downloading and genuinely needed a question answered. One question led to another and then I started on the resolved questions because other peeps had already been thru it. Some of the links looked interesting, so, on to them, and its never ending, but extremely useful. I have learned loads in the past week :) and it makes the time pass quicker when downloading. Much more useful than hoovering, dusting, washing, ironing which will all have to done again tomorrow hehe.

Well. I could finish putting up the tree and decorations. But when I finish this answer it will be football time. I vacuumed the floor 8pm yesterday. This damned board has rearranged my schedule like crazy. I love it. You all are forgetting a serious matter though. The sense of SECURITY, knowing that any problem that comes up. Jump into "Answers" pop your Q. Come back in five and durn if some body didn't answer it.
Keep up the good work guys and girl's.
REMEMBER! What ever you were supposed to do will be waiting right there for you, unless Yahoo creates the "Good answer Fairy" that will appear at where ever you are and finish the job for you. (;-}

I felt exactly the same way when I first started and like yourself; I only came on because I wanted an answer to a question.... I then got totally addicted and came on Yahoo answers everyday, spending valuble hours answering questions when there was other important things to do but the novelty soon wore off.

I think the addiction comes because everyone answering wants their answer to be the best answer, and when your answer is chosen amongst loads of other anwers it gives you a good feeling.

yes, well look´s like I´m not the only one then , I have been doing the same as you, But the best way to stop doing this I have found ,is to either switch it off or go and see how much work you can do in 15 min´s then come back and answer some more. you´ll be surprised just how much you can get done in 15 min´s .so see you in 15 min´s then bye

Absolutely. My ex called me a know-it-all for trying to answer so many science questions but its fun. You feel you have to answer as many as possible as so many people are answering with utter drivel and nonsense.

I know there are far more productive things I could be doing with my time but now all I can think about is getting to level 3.

Should there be a Question and Answer forum for people to discuss the problem of being addicited to the question and answer forum? Or would that be counter-productive?

Don't feel guilty about. If it is what you enjoy make the most of it.
I only spend about 30 minutes at a time, but I can understand how you could become addicted. At least you are aware of it!

The simple fact is that this site is brilliant. I have found the answers to questions which I never thought I would, and its all down to helpful people like you. Don't be so negative - your time isn't wasted, and sometime in return you will get the answers you need.

Same here, I only needed an answer, now the dishes are piling up by the full dishwasher, the laundry basket is overloaded, kids have decided to wear creased clothes and the cobwebs are overtaking the house, but what the hell:))
