Considering how Jackson thumbed his nose at the Supreme Court and evicted Indian tribes like the Cherokee (my ancestry), moving them (the Trail of Tears) to Oklahoma Territory, I think of Jackson as more of a dictator than anything else. But he also had his problems with South Carolina, and the National Bank. He had his moments of controversy, but also had his moments of strength.
