UK: Look up 'Teddy Boys' in the late 50's early 60's, then along came the Beatles who were the leaders in fashion. All teenage boys had to have 'winklepicker shoes' - long, usually black leather shoes with long pointed toe cap. Straight jacket with high collar - sometimes called 'bum freezers' and drain pipe trousers. Slim ties came into fashion................ Greasy hair in what was called a 'Tony Curtis' followed by the Beatle style and the start of long hair.

p.s. the Hippy era did not come until later.............

NEVER jeans! They were not allowed! I remember the strike in the High School (I was in grade 7), and that was in 1972! Girls would wear a skirt, a blouse, and maybe a sweater. HIGHLY unlikely to be wearing a leather jacket as well. Poodle skirts were more 50's, and, didn't last all that long anyway. There would be no tank dress - shows too much skin, especially for a young person. Appearances mattered back then, and there was not the rebelliousness seen in the late '60's, and 1970's. So, nothing "edgy" at all. I'm not sure of more details, but, you are mixing 1950's with 1980's, and missing the '60's pretty much entirely!
