This depends on what your wanting to do with the DVD's once backed up.
I like DVD decrypter to rip the DVD, and then DVD shrink to compress it, then DVD Decrypter to then write out the compressed file.
You can find more at the web site www.doom9.net regarding these any many other tools, as well as how to guides on how to use them.
Note: Making copies of copyright DVD is illegal in nost areas. I presume you own the legal right to make the backup copy. If not, please ignore this answer as I don't want to be accused of aiding in piracy.

For legal reasons dvd dedrypter has been closed down,however you can download,similar at www.speedlabs.inc ,it is just as good as decrypter
