There is a spelling for numbers for proffessional reasons. It looks better spelled out into words in things like essays and articles as long as it is not a huge number. However, there aren't phoenetic spellings for letters because we use letters to spell in the first place and it would just be a waste of time and thought.

Its americans who say 'zee' us English (apart from people who watch too much American TV) say 'Zed'. Numbers are given names in letters so we know how to pronounce them. Its problematic to give words to letters as they're already the smallest components of our writing. It makes sense if you think of it this way. D could be spelt 'Dee' but would that be pronounced Day? Although there are those little squiggles that give guides to pronunciation you still need a basic level of understanding the letters. Words to describe them would themselves have to be composed of letters so it wouldnt work.

Not in English, other languages do have spellings for the letters of their alphabet. For example, the French spelling for "z" is zed.

Letters are sometimes presented in word format so that we know how to pronounce them. This happens most commonly with " and "H" Z".
Which is correct, Zee or Zed or Haitch or Aitch.

Letters are spelt as just one letter, including z. This is because letters are used for spelling, so they don't have a spelling of their own. Numbers have a proper spelling because although they are symbols, they are not used in spelling.

Why would you say zed because it is spelled z-e-e.If you said zed, then it wouldn't sound right.
You can't spell a letter because letters spell out words. If letters spelled letters there would be no end to it.

Because letters write out words and you can't write out things in numbers as that would not make any sense at all! If there were spellings of each and every letter it would just make things too confusing. Sometimes it is more appropriate to write numbers out by their name (e.g. one) to make things more formal

Well, the smallest element of a word is a sound, and a letter represents a sound. The name of a number is a word, so the smallest element of the name of a number is a sound, and a letter represents a sound.
