It's best to wait for vista to come out first.Even though a lot of cheap laptops are showing up,they'll be dead inventory by the time vista comes out.Have patience:)

I think the others whom have answered got it right, you can buy a machine now, as long as it is Vista capable and get a coupon upgrade, but if you want to have a machine tested with all the device drivers supported with no question as to how it will work, and you can wait, wait until Jan 31st 2007.
If not, just make sure it is Vista Capable, (should have a sticker on it) and ask when purchasing if you are able to use the coupon upgrade on the machine you picked.
Most machines bought now till 1st Q next year will allow you to upgrade.

while the laptops that are out now may be cheap, and vista capable, it is better to buy them at a later time. with Vista preinstalled, you can bet the laptop will be more stable, and less vulnurable to crashes. i would wait.

You can get vista ready systems now. so its up to u,wheather u wanna buy cheaper discounted laptops now or normal price higher confeagured laptops after xmas.
