I've noticed in most communities, "whites" live in certain neighborhoods, and "African Americans" live in other sections. Most people that I've met from other other races are pretty decent people, so why are we so uncomfortable living around people of other races?

(Yes, there are "trash" from all races, but I'm talking about the decent people from other races who are hard working, raise their kids well, etc).

Please do not get offended when you read this, but the answer would be racism. Even though some white people become defensive when confronted with their racist tendencies, they are undeniably racist. This group of whites does everything from accuse blacks of being racist for confronting them about the issue or retaliating, to talking about rainbow colors (which no one is discussing), to bringing up all the non-white friends they have. These behaviors are counterproductive to solving the problem, because they need to recognize the roots of the racism. This anger and hatred stems from within and progressive whites should be more educated about the problem of racism, if they want the racial tensions to end. Many whites do not want black people to live in their neighborhood and real estate agents keep them out - this is an example of racism. Other groups have less control over these types of activities, since they are not the predominant controllers of real estate markets. However, whites do move into black neighborhoods that are well maintained, and a small few venture into poorly maintained neighborhoods, whether blacks and non-whites like it or not. Sure, everyone all people treat people mean who are not a part of their group, but this is prejudice, not racism. I call on these so called not racist white people to get educated, instead of just getting all defensive, so THEY know what THEY are talking about it.

Conditioning. People know about the hostility and subjugation that has gone on, especially between blacks and whites, so many adults in each group condition their children to be fearful and distrustful of members of the the other and nurture an exaggerated sense of aggrievment with respect to the other group. Once you've planted the seed of fear - arguably the most powerful emotion - it can very difficult to weed it out. And, as should be clear from some of the hate filled questions on Yahoo Answers, some people are quite happy to live in their own little group and hurl hate at others. No doubt it helps them feel more a part of whatever group they're in or feeds some other need they have.

It's the same with Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland and Muslims and Hindus in India. Whenever you have a history of group hostility and conflict, it can be difficult to overcome it, even if lots of people of good will on both sides want to. But it can be done. Just takes time, a willingness to communicate and take the risk of getting to know people across the divide.

Cause the not so goods are walking around with there heads up there asses and this makes the process much more difficult .Just think what a great day it would be , if everyone carried there weight there was no drugs or crime and people actually cared about one another and showed respect towards each other .WOW!! Be kind.

Because that's how people in this country have been raised. There is not one person who can say that they have never heard anything racial. Meaning that thoughts are placed in our heads from birth and no matter how much we want to believe that we are not racist there will most likely come a point in everyone's life that rascism comes out. It's a fact of life.

Thats what todays society wants thing to be. Why do you think that they had Dr. Martin Luther King assassinated? They had Dr. King assassinated because his dream was about to take place. Our government didn't want that. They don't want us to be together as one. That will defete their purpose. Our government want constant but silent war around us at all times. Because if we unite as one we the people can defete our government of wrongful doing among others. They don't want that.
