The thing about cats can harm babies is a myth. I wouldnt worry a bit. When my children were born we had 2 cats and they never even came close to hurting the babies.

I had a cat that was with friends of my mother when I was pregnant for over one year. We had to take her back and I was a little worried, my baby is three month old. She is not declawed but a nutured female who is very gentle..and she does not even acknowledge the baby is here..she is not curious, does not go near her pretty much and is very good around my baby. OF course there are precautions to take..like dont leave baby and cat unattended for to long in the same room. Do not let the cat in your babies room or in the crib or anything like that. So far my cat has been excellent and its very easy to have them both at the same time.

It all depends on the personality of your cat. If it seems to be jealous than you need to be more carefull. Like when the baby is sleeping, make sure the cat can not get at the baby. Such as lay your baby in a the crib in the nursery and shut the door to make sure the cat can not get it. Or use nets that are made to cover playpen/bassinets. As the first person said, cats are known to smother little babies because the baby is not strong enough to turn their own head to try to get a clear breathing space.

He should be a little angel then because hes declawed. When I was a baby my cat was gentle, etc. But, he had claws, and so he scratched me on my face. I'm sure he will be fine, unless he loves attention.

it will be fine. Put tin foil in the crib or bassinet before the baby is born. If the cat jumps in then he will be startled and wont try that again. We have a cat and she is very gently with the baby. Just don't leave them in the same room alone and it will be fine.

i wouldn't trust it.cats don't mean to do any harm but they can, they might try to lay down with the baby because they are warm and suffocate the baby also i had a cat when i had my baby well i had my baby in the bed with me and open my eyes to see that cat around the mouth part of my baby.i just wouldn't trust it.he can be in the house but wherever that baby is make sure the cat isn't.

no bad experience here...I had 2 cats that were absolutely spoiled.."our babies" for years before i brought my oldest home...
My husband brought a baby blanket home from the hospital so the cats got used to the baby's scent before he came home. The have never really warmed up to my boys..but they are definately tolerant of them...
Best wishes.

please keep your cat away from your baby. cats like milk and they can smell the milk on your baby's mouth. they will try to get in your baby's mouth and suffocate them. i had a friend that left her daughter with her sister who had a cat. that cat got a hold of one of the baby bottles that had already been dranked and chewed the nipple off. be careful

if the cat is well trained && doesn't wonder around knocking stuff down everything will be fine.
if you want to avoid any accidents you shouldn't let the cat near the baby.
