Good for you, Mate! I don't let them in the door at all. Pushy, lying, and yes, you were wittnessing what is called the "drop close" or a verison of it. I wouldn't insult gits, cheeky or not--that individual had been promoted to right pillock!
Once my mum had people in trying to sell her a fancy vibrate-heat-folding bed. When he got to the "drop close" I looked at mum and said, "now wittness the infamous drop close." She laughed, the bloke turned red, and we wound up with the bed at half the starting price.
Feck ém. That's why I decided I did not want to be a salesman AFTER going through three days of training. That was between uni degrees, I settled for much more honest pay and an hourly pay.
Charles "That Cheeky Lad"
Happy Christmas to all who celebrate, and peace and joy to everyone!
P.S. As with others, I won't bother to talk to them on phone.

Yes I know what you mean. My wife and I have adopted a good policy now. Never buy from people who come to your door. Never agree to anyone who phones your home phone. I f a sales person puts you under pressure when they make a visit, show them the door. We have just ordered a kitchen From a leading DIYstore. Very patient salesman, no pressure, helpful and polite. Spent 2 hours advising us and told us to go away and think about it. He gets our vote. And that's the way to get a sale from us!

get on the internet an look up 'Network Veka' all the window companies must be accredited and don't use pushy salespeople.
If you live in the north west then check out Paramount windows absolutely great, no pressure, but no discounts either, the price you get is the first and last.

Yes ..then I bought a NO SOLICITING sign and put it on the storm, for most of them it works.I still get a few but I now ask them " If you can't read that sign what makes you think I would trust you to sell me anything." and just close the door. I know u have to make a living doing something, but if I wanted their product I would have called them. And good for you.*

Yes, shouldn't let them in the door! If you want double glazing, do a bit of research and then get in touch with them yourself.
Once they are in your home, well it's really hard to get rid of them eh?!

We had a similar salesman. When they ring you up later in the week to see if you're interested in their offer, tell them "no, 'cos your salesman was too pushy", and buy windows from a company recommended to you by friends or family instead.

Very well done, i always point at the road and tell them to leave. This is the perfect time of year for scam artists. And do not allow them inside your house. they could be looking around for valuables to come back and steal when you're not at home.

Best solution to any door caller it to tell them it's a rented property
They know that you would be unable to make any decision whatsoever and promptly leave
Why should they then waste their time with you and that leaves you not wasting your time with them
Damn parasites

Just simply say you are not interested and close the door. As long as you are polite you shouldnt feel bad about closing the door on them =)
