I also have a telewest (nlt) broadband, tv and phone. and I can use yahoo with BT communicator just fine. BT and Yahoo have a commercial deal, so its more to do with sponsorship in the name than the flexibility of the product.,

The yahoo IM is fine, communicator can be used too you can set up a seperate bill for that, however the BT communicator software is being discontinued at the end of the year- Yahoo messenger will still carry on though.

No, you should be fine - it's got nothing to do with who supplies your broadband.
