Some slippers have been bought in a size ratio of 4:7:9:3 over sizes 5,6,7, & 8, there are 111 size 8's on order.

ratios are as follows:

size 5-4/23
size 6-7/23
size 7-9/23
size 8-3/23

total amount of shoes on
order=23/3*111=851
number of size 7s ordered
=9/23*851=333
number of size sevens
over delivered
=386-333=53

therefore,53 size 7s have
been over delivered against
the order

There are 111 size 8 slippers,

3 parts => 111 size 8 slippers
9 parts => (111 / 3) x 9 = 333 size 7 slippers

If 386 were delivered, 386 - 333 = 53 pairs of size 7 slippers have been over delivered.

total no
=111*23/3
=37*23
=851
ratio of 7 size delivered
=386/851
=.4535
=45.35%

There should be three times as many size 7s as size 8s, so there should be 333 size 7s. There are 53 extra.
