To figure out how many neutrons an element has all you have to do is subtract its atomic number from it's mass number. So in sodium's case it's mass is 22.99 or 23, sodium's atomic number is 11 so therefore: 23-11= 12. So sodium has 12 neutrons.

There are only two known isotopes of sodium, Na-22 and Na-23. Na-23 is stable while Na-22 has a half-life of about 3 years. For Na-23, there are 12 neutrons.
