How much time in train from Amsterdam to the closest city in Germany?

I don't know if it is THE closest city in Germany, but Duisburg is a fairly large town, and it's 2 hrs with train from Amsterdam.

And it's about 2 hrs 15 min to Dusseldorf.

It all depends on which part of the Netherlands you are.

In South Holland you are 20 minutes away from Kleef (Kleve) a beautiful small place in Germany.
