Sorry, you've got it all wrong. The volume of a prism would be:
LengthxWidthxHeight
Some people people say BasexHeightxHeight. I don't like that way. Some not smart people will get confused and multiply the length by the Height twice. You shoudl stick to lwh.

The formula you gave is the short way to find the perimeter of a rectangle instead of adding all the four sides together.

the formula to find the volume of a rectangular prism is:
length x width x height

Plug the numbers you have into the equation: V=lwh 1344=l*8*12=l*96 Then just divide through to get l alone. l=1344/96=14
