A rectangle is two dimensional i.e. it has length and breadth
A piece of A4 paper is a rectangle and has only Area = 8x4 = 32
unless you want to be pedantic and take the thickness of the paper into account
For it to have volume it has to have depth i.e. be a cube like a building brick
Volume = L x B x d if 2 deep
Volume = 8 x 4 x 2 = 64

Area of a rectangle is length x width
So an 8" x 4" rectangle would have an area of 32 square inches.
Volume refers to a 3 dimensional figure that has height in addition to length and width.
That formula would be length x width x height = volume... 8"L x 4"W x 5"H = 160 cubic inches

The volume of a rectangle is
L x W x H = Volume
L = Length
W = Width
H = Height
Figure it out from there...

Length X Width X Height is finding volume of a box.
and as per the first answer, rectangle is 2 dimensional (L x W equals area).

Volume needs a 3-dimensional figure. A rectangle is a 2-dimensional figure, but we can call it a 3-dimensional one if we assume the HEIGHT as ZERO.
VOLUME = LENGTH x WIDTH x HEIGHT
So the volume of rectangle = LENGTH x WIDTH x 0 = 0.

A rectangle is flat...you can't find its volume because it's not 3D. You either mean the area of a rectangle or the volume of a rectangular prism. If you mean area, area = length x width. If you mean volume, volume = length x width x height.

I think that you mean "the perimeter of a rectangle".
P = 2(L + W)
P = 2(8 + 4)
P = 16 + 8
P = 24
ANSWER: The "PERIMETER" (not the "volume") of a rectagle with length 8 and width 4 is 24 units.

I think volume of a rectangle is length times width times height... thats for 3D... now you want 2D so its just legth times width... same as you said. In this case I guess that area equals volume
