Hatred is anger. Anger causes the body to secrete more adrenalin and more cortisone and more glucose. So when you are angry or hating, these chemicals are in your blood stream at much higher than normal levels. In addition, your blood pressure and heart rate are usually elevated by strong negative emotions.

So imagine a non-hating person taking steroids and adrenaline and lots of sugar every day and you will see what happens physically to a hate-filled person. The rapid heart wears out faster and is more prone to heart attack from the adrenaline.

The high glucose levels can cause diabetes. The high levels of cortisone cause damage to the liver and kidneys. And that is just the physical damage. The emotional damage from anger/hating is not good.

It has been proven that a simple smile can raise levels of natural endorphins(mood elevators). So smile!

Hatred is like a drug. Hatred affects your mind, it clouds your sense of ethics and morals and desicion making. It gives a churning feeling in the pit of your stomach, for no reason at all. In extreme cases, it might make you do or say things you later regret. In time, it overpowers all other emotions and thoughts, leaving you a hollowed out husk, being no longer a human being, just something that mearly takes up space.

Hatred is a slow killer. Though it is said to start in the mind , it thrives by instigating the physical body to destroy itself. Its agitation inside hurts deeply the blood circulation, breathing and the heart. Once you become a victim hatred consumes you in due course.

Hatred will consume your thoughts, until you verbilize or release in some way. I try to notice the negative thought patterns so I can understand those feelings before the release happens.

Hatred is a powerful emotion, and can consume your entire body and soul and make you unhappy and alone. Most of the time we justify our reasons for being "angry", for being disturbed, but that doesn't help us to experience peace and well-being in life. In fact the more we justify our anger, the more prone we are to indulge in it. The more we indulge in it, the more it becomes habitual and the more often we experience it. "There will inevitably be some disruptions to the peacefulness of mind, usually internal disruptions. These disruptions are of great variety. But ill-will, aversion, anger or hatred are the disruptions that destroy the peace of mind most quickly, not only in times of meditation, but in the general daily course of living. Whenever anger, ill-will, or irritation arises it immediately destroys our peace of mind, our mental well-being." its harder to stay anger then to learn to let things go.
"No one can affect you unless you choose to be affected."

It wears you out. It makes you exhausted. Hatred is tiring work!

And, Whistle Britches, hate is not the opposite of love. It is possible to hate someone you love because only someone you love can hurt you in a way to cause hate. The opposite of love is indifference.

Hatred eats you from the inside out. When that little fire goes out, you'll realize that you're just an empty shell.

That's what I think.
