How do I unistall windows 2000 professional in order for me to install Windows XP?

Inserted XP disk in and was working well but I can't find my Product Code (which is said to be found on the certicate of authenticy!?) Please help!!!

you don't have to un install it.. but you can make upgrade for it from the CD... when u just put it in the cd room and the auto-run starts.. you can choose upgrade... so don't lose the data you have..

Just put in your WindowsXP disk. It should detect that it is a upgrade. No need to uninstall windows 2000. If after you install xp and 2000 is still in your Add and Remove programs you can then delete it.

You will need your XP install discs, when you put them into the drive it will give you steps to follow the on screen instructions. Overwriting the previous instalation will remove it if you choose that option when installing XP.

just install xp over windows 2000, re format your drive at the satrt to wipe win 2000 off

get the xp disc. put it in the computer. when you double click on the disc drive, it should come up with a menu. Then select "install windows xp" then another menu will come up. Select upgrade then follow on screen instructions

Installing Windows

First step
•Before you install a new operating system to a computer you must save the data of the computer so it wont be lost.
•You can save the data on a CD, scandisk, or a floppy disk.
Second step
•Shutdown your computer and insert the CD of the operating system that you want to install in your system.
•It must be detect when the system is starting up.
•If it doesn’t detect you have to set it up to read the CD-Rom.
•You should be able to de files loading up at the bottom bar, then you should see

Welcome to Setup

This portion of the setup program prepares Microsoft® Windows® XP to run on your computer.

•To setup Windows XP now, press Enter
•To repair a Windows installation using recovery Console, press R
•To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3

Fourth Step
•Press Enter, then it will say

Microsoft XP Licensing Agreement

•Press F8, which means that you agree.

Fifth step
•When you press F8 you should say

Windows XP Professional Setup

If one of the following Windows installation is damaged, Setup can try to repair it.

Use the Up and Down Arrow key to select an installation

•To repair the selected Windows XP installation, Press R
•To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing, press ESC
Sixth step
•Pick your operating system installed inside the computer.

•Click ESC, after you click ESC you should be able to see this

The following list shows the existing partitions and unpartitions space on this computer.

Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to select an installation.

•To set up Windows XP on the select item, press enter
•To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C
•To delete the selected partition , press D

Seventh step
•Press D, then it will ask you if you are sure then press L to delete if you want to return press ESC
•Then after your done, create a partition for the new windows that you are going to install (Ignore the Unpartitioned space “7MB’)
•Then press Enter to the Partition you want to install.

Eight step
•Then it will ask you what file to formatted it in you can click NTSF(Quick) or NTSF.
•After you click on the one you want it to format it will start formatting you hard drive and put files on you computer. It take several minutes depending on your hard drives memory.
•Then it will restart you computer(don’t boot the CD)
•Follow the simple instruction that are given to you it will take like 39 mins.
•When your finish it will tell you to restart you computer again then you are done installing your operating system.

just put the xp cd in then restart the pc.

If Add/Remove programs doesn't allow you, go buy WipeDrive, and wipe your harddrive(s) clean.
