touch a PRS before making a statement. PRS have a pickup selector not like a Les paul. you can get quite a few different sounds out if it.. strats sound like strats and strats only.
PS: I love PRS and Strats. equally.

Pretty general and subjective question...the Paul Reed Smith is a better built and sounding guitar, period. A top end Fender strat maybe, and they can be more easily modified and customized...and the Fender is a better general guitar for beginners to intermidiate, but all in all the Paul Reed Smith is a better guitar, imo...

Wow....obviously all the previous answers were not from guitar players.
The PRS is UNBELIEVABLY superior to the Fender Strat. Fender strats were a good axe in their day and some guitar players still hang onto that for blues and country music. the PRS is made of better wood, better electronics, better action and better playablitlty.
Yes Fender fans... that includes the USA models.

I would have to go for the strat... good all around guitar and you don't see the likes of Eric Clapton and David Gilmour playing PRS's
