is my sitaution good or not; should I be happy or should I be desperate, should I see good sides or bad sides of my situation.
(I cannot explain my situation in detail here, so let it refer to any situation).

Always look for the good in life. There are always people in much more desperate situations than we are. Make the best of all situations.

I'm going to provide a dissenting opinion here.

Surely looking for the good is something to strive for, but we're genetically programmed to see the bad - think about it, it's much more practical in terms of survival.

The brain was built with primal insticts first, and with any sort of intelect and reason these thoughts were driven (subconciously or in an entirely concious state) by survival. Be it the hunter-gatherer "need food" simplistic (by today's standard) way of thinking or a modern philosopher, ultimately we're still tied to our genes and therefore look at the bad in a situation whether we want to or not. We can train ourselves to look at the good, but the bad always takes precedence.

My suggestion? Don't choose one or the other. Look at both and think through logically as to which truly matters more.

Personally, I'm a firm believer in Murphy's Law...but not having all the facts I can only say that intuition is a very powerful thing. Go with your very first response to any situation.

You should seek out the best in your situation and make the most of it. You should acknowledge that bad, but also do not dwell on it. Take away a lesson if you can. Learn from your mistakes.
