I think what you're referring to is someone getting tossed from the faceoff. This means a player does something he's not supposed to do before the referee drops the puck, so he is not allowed to take the faceoff and another player has to replace him in the circle. Hope that clears things up!

Usually because a player get's tossed out of the faceoff circle, or the team sees a different type of strategy that might work!

Yes the player may move their stick to soon so the ref. has they move out the area and a different team member will take their place.

its called head games trying to get to the other team play with them hope to get them upset or sometimes just because you were in the wrong place to start with.
