When I was in law school, criminal law was a required first year, second semester course. It was the easiest course I took.

I am wondering if you are speaking of the US?

Not only is the study of law at University hard work, but the first few years after graduation, even if you can find a job, will be extremely hard. You will also need to study for the Bar exam after you finish your degree.

Your first step might be to contact a law school for 'advisement'. They'll take you through what you might need to do. Closer to the time for you to apply, you need to take the LSAT - this test is the primary thing a law school will consider when deciding to admit you. If you don't get a good LSAT score, you are unlikely to be admitted. Look up LSAT online; there are mock tests you can try at home to see how difficult the test might be.

You will also need a strong GPA; and some pre-law credits from a college will help. If you already have a degree, that may be helpful, though it depends on what courses you took.
