One of them has just turned 20, and working full-time, and he does not give gifts in return. The other child is in her mid-teens and not working yet, so I feel that she still warrants gifts.

my grandmothers best friend bought gifts for my sister and i until we turned 18 after that she still sends us cards but no gifts. so if the one kid is 20 and working and doesn't return the gift then get him a card telling him merry christmas and for the teen girl get her something like a gift certificate to old navy or something.. it's not expensive and it is still something small

I agree... I have had several friends children I had bought for when they were young... cut back gradually... like do only birthdays... then eventuallt quit that... then all that is left is gifts when they marry and have kids or things for there new home, etc... and don't feel bad about it... thats how I handle that... there are a few of the grown kids that started buying me things whenthey grew up so they are the ones that i continue to buy for and if the others have the nerve to bring up the subject... I would say relationships is a two way street... hope this helps....

tell your husband to stop and evaluate for a minute how he ought to experience in a unprecedented residing house on a vacation without his kinfolk or pals, terrified and then to be excluded from some thing like present giving. Even a $5 present is more advantageous than a lot of those toddlers had at residing house. Your husband appears like a jerk- i am going to't imagine not determining to purchase for or loving on a toddler because they weren't blood. i replaced right into a foster mom very last 365 days for the duration of Christmas. Our foster toddler replaced into 2 years previous and were given 5-6 small presents from us and yet another 2 or 3 from our mom and father. The look on his face even as he realized that those toys were his replaced into astounding. those toddlers favor some particular interest. you've the right theory and prefer I suggested, the presents do not might want to be expensive.. in order that long as they're for them. good luck and God bless

Switch to christmas cards. Their old enough now to not have to expect gifts anymore. Gift giving to friends kids is just that, for kids. Your under no moral obligation to keep giving them gifts, particularily when they hit seventeen.

well the 20 year old definatley not. and fot the teen, they should know that Christmas is not about all gifts, so buy her something small. like an iTunes card (if she has an iPod) or a cd case or something.

well you know you have start it and they are going to continua looking for gifts from you. if your not going to get all of them a gift don't give none of them a gift because it will make them feel bad if you get some of them a gift and didn't give all of them one.
