Social work is a field that has many different facets and career paths. I wouldn't trade this job for anything in the world. If you enjoy helping others to reach their maximum potential and then be able to watch these positive changes unfold this is the job for you. It doesn't pay very well but the rewards of making a positive difference in this world far exceed the money.

There is a wonderful book called "Days in the lives of social wokers" that has 50+ stories of social workers and thier practice. It is a great way to get a very full broad spectrum of understanding of the many faces of social work. It is available online from the publisher or Amazon. You may also want to begin talking to social workers in your community, this is what I did 25 years ago when I first explored social work. Also if you have a college in the area that has a BSW go and make an appointment to talk with the faculty.
