looking for good value notebook:
- ultralight, preferably as lite as possible, but definetely under 1.7kg
- under US$800 for brand new
- screen 11-14"
Pls advise if anyone knows

Ultra light and your price point dont exist yet. You can get a 5.4lb one for your price point. Samsung came out with an UMPC last year, but their price point is higher than they wanted.... Look on the web for the Samsung Q1... it is not a traditional laptop... no keyboard, mouse, and a tiny screen.

Good luck. I don't know of any laptop in that weight class for the price point you are looking at. I'm sorry but you're just going to have to go up to 2.4kg (5.4lbs) which is the lightest I could find in your price point. What you're looking for just doesn't exist (at that price).
