bill russell was a winner in grade school, high school, college and the nba....maybe its because he belongs to the era long time past but these people who think of others as the greatest never bother to look up russell's winning accomplishments.... and to those of you who chose chamberlain, you might want to check how russell dominated their encounters to wilt's frustration and you have the gall to choose wilt over rusell...and remember michael jordan did not win his first title until he was six years in the league and bird, magic and kareem were fading or away from the battles....11 rings in 13 nba campaigns says it all and he even played in 12 finals....no player ever has ever achieved 12 finals in 13 seasons and to say no one will ever again is a safe bet....being great should never be about personal records, flashy plays, or scoring many points...it should be about winning and there is no bigger winner than the great Bill Russell

There's no question Jordan. He is the one who led his team to have the best NBA record to date. 72 wins and 10 losses. Also he has like 6 rings and is an incredible player. LeBron and Kobe are good but not that good. LeBron and Kobe are icons but Jordan is on another level. He's a legend

Past= Jordan
Present= Kobe
Future= Lebron
Jordan made his mark as the greatest basketball player of all time
Kobe made his mark as the most illest scorer of all time (82,62,57, 30 in a quarter, 50 in a half, you name it he's scored it)
Lebron made his mark as the greatest player at that age to ever play.
no one knows who will be the greatest because lebron is still developing, in my eyes it is kobe bryant, in most it is Jordan, and in few it is Lebron.

Jordan. You never heard anyone saying try to be like Kobe and get a rape charge. lebron is too young, he has no legacy. He's not magical like MIke. Do you remember that playoff Bulls vs. the Pacers and Jordan was ill. He scored like over 30 points that game. Just pure class.

Jordan hands down. He's not even playing right now, yet still influencing the game. He was what a basketball player should be. I think the closet player to him would probably be Dewayne Wade. He's got that unselfish nature that the younger guys just don't have. Maybe Lebron James, too.

Matter of opinion....
For one you cannot judge just how great a player is by how many rings they have....No matter how good they are-Bball is a team sport-You cant do it alone!
You are forgetting some really important names up there...What about Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Scotty Pippen....All of whom I just named were outstanding, historical players. I think (in my own opinion) LeBron James is one of the best....But he has a long ways to go although I think he can achieve it...I dont there is only -one- greatest player...Although I want to believe LeBron will be the best...It all comes back to-
Matter of opinion.

first of all, purely after he retired, the media all started kissing his a$$, collectively as he performed, Jordan replaced into hated greater desirable than he replaced into enjoyed. 2. He did do all of it the way by using himself, an analogous team, could no longer win all of it with out Jordan(all the retirements proved that), so all of us comprehend he attracted super place-gamers, and he performed with between the final #2's ever, yet Jordan meant triumphing, and triumphing super. 3. And Jordan made the Bulls win, including to regardless of stat we mandatory, so i don't get approaches to deny he made his team-acquaintances greater effective, he made Paxson, and Kerr mythical by using getting 'em take final photos 4. first of all, in an era of exact D, centers mattered to all and sundry, because of the fact they have been the lock on the door, they had harm all and sundry utilising the lane, to attempt and score, secondly, yet how approximately Clyde Drexler, Magic Johnson, Reggie Miller, Joe Dumars, Allan Houston, Kobe, Byron Russel, John Starks, Allen Iverson. All corridor of attractiveness textile, so do no longer faux he did no longer face any actual opposition. 5. i'm gonna would desire to ascertain a link to the stats there, because of the fact ESPN is incredibly sparkling, Jordan over 50% for interest-winners, Kobe around 33%. 6. it incredibly is incredibly elementary, in case you're making your team win Championships by using dropping 40, you're wearing the gang, in case you're scoring 40 in losses, it incredibly is a ineffective ball-hogging waste of time. Jordan made the Bulls win, those different adult men, lacked that high quality, it incredibly is incredibly elementary, scoring super, and triumphing = good, scoring super and loosing = undesirable. 7. Jordan replaced into who he replaced into, it incredibly is the project with a super type of youthful-hopefulls for a celeb place, they communicate super, and back-song, they communicate trash, and back-down, Jordan did no longer try this, he continues to be beefin' yet he's no longer backing down, or having 'apology' press conferences. you incredibly would desire to p.c.. up on the main factors, because of the fact all your arguments are susceptible, given which you're lacking the element, Jordan had a super production 30.1ppg, and he made the Bulls win. And the actuality he saved on triumphing, is what makes him the final.
