Why can't you people in the philosophy section take a joke? All you do is take everything so serious and most people seem quick to give opinionated anwers without thinking about the question. Also most answers seem to err on the side that they are right and the question asker is some sort of idiot and therefore wrong!

People in this category are seeking enlightenment. Good luck getting any...

What we need to know isn't available for us to understand...but come to think of it comedians are pretty philosophical at times it all depends on how you take it.

That's not funny! The only reason we give opinionated answers is because we're so enlightened, and the only reason you don't think so is you're some sort of idiot or something. Whatever you are, you're definitely wrong! Kidding!

The real reason is this is the philosophy section, so everyone here must act like a prudes who are Mensa geniuses because we sit in Starbucks drinking $5 lattes and read fancy books by dead people who sat in coffee shops writing books about their philosophy based on their readings from other fancy dead people who did the same thing too. (you didn't get the memo, did you?)

Philosophy is the love of learning, of knowledge and the sharing of deeper truths. Jokes are probably seen as belonging in a different section of Yahoo Answers.

;-D Did you tell a joke and nobody laughed?

I am out raged by that comment... Of course I can handle a joke, but how per-say do you take a joke? Do you get the person to write it down and then snatch the paper from their hands? If it is on the computer, do you copy, and paste? Are you supposed to walk around with a tape recorder so you can get every spoken word of the joke?

Oh, come one now- this isn't computer
programming- it's philosophy. It's all
conjecture, anyway. The joke is that
we are alive, and the Meaning of Life
is to laugh at it. That's what I'm here
for. If you cant take a joke, then go read
some more books.....

Good point! Philosophy is the act of philosophising which basically means 'thinking about stuff and coming up with ideas'. There IS no correct answer, these philosophers obviously Kant take it (pun intended)

I agree that there is alot of pedantry in these sections! 'I'm right, everyone else wrong', 'This is the universe according to me!' blah blah blah...

I've thought about the meaning of life over and over again, but I've come to the conclusion that you probably won't figure out the truth about life until you're dead! So cheer up and get a life!

it is because we are very special thats why oh and we are very clever also that would be why we are always right, and if we didnt think we were right then we wouldn't answer the questions and it would be very silent in the philosophy department, and not all idots are wrong either, but mostly its because we are very special people.

Philosophy is a very serious subject - that some people don't realize is a very serious joke...
