I have to replace my DVD drive. I need to know what is going to fit and operate. I need to know the specs of my CPU so that I purchase the correct DVD for my system. Thanks

If you're using XP go to start/accessories/system information

Download Belarc Advisor to your computer. That will tell you a lot of information about your computer, including the key codes for Windows XP. Most DVD burners are the same. 16X DVD-RWs are the most common, there are 18X DVD-RWs coming out now. You should get an internal 16X DVD-RW.

I had a similar question about adding memory, and I e-mailed my computer's manufacturer and they resonded. I also went to crucial.com, and they scanned my PC and told me everything that it has and what equipment I could add. They don't sell DVD's though.
