Neurosis happens before the onset of psychosis. It's a good idea for a person to find out what they want, why they want it, and how they are going to achieve it. An appropriate health care worker helps their clients to achieve this based on their own personal experience and achievements.
Neurosis is pretty common, psychosis is when it shows.
