I can tell the difference most of the time, but sometimes I can't. I spent the first season of House thinking Chase was English, when in fact he's an Aussie. I have a very hard time distinguishing the difference between Australian and New Zealand accents.

I think they sound completley different. I think the southern English accent is also very different to the northern English accent. Maybe it's becuase I live nextdoor in Ireland or something but I think they're VERY different. Alot of Americans think I'm Australian too, I've never even been to Australia! Then again I can't tell the difference between a Canadian and an American accent.

Yes I can tell the difference, I like Australian accents more. Sometimes English accents come across to me as "snooty" even if they are a friendly person.

No they don't. There's a nice difference there. Australian's have a bit of a hop to their accent that English don't. I can't quite describe it, but they are different.

I have absolutely no problem distinguishing between the way British and Australian people speak. They do not sound the same at all, to me.

The accents of Australia are very different than those of the mother country. Sit through "My Fair Lady" and "Crocodile Dundee" and listen.
By the way, there are so many different accents in England that it is quite possible for one Englishman not to be able to understand another.

I'm English so I can tell the difference. Although, I can't tell the difference between American accents and the sound of drowning ferrets.
