Think of Tivo like a VCR. You pick a channel to record and it saves it so you can view it later. Now the difference is that once it is saved you can skip through commercials quickly, view slow motion, record two channels at the same time (one digital channel and one analog channel). It can be connected up to you Home computer Network so you can view it or save it onto a DVD easily with a little know how. Anymore questions feel free to ask..

TiVo offers more choices such as season passes to record all of your favorite shows, you can schedule recordings from the Internet, if you go wireless, it will even record shows based on your TV viewing habits (it's a feature you can turn on or off). You can record one program while watching another. I have had a TiVo since 2003 and love it. However, there is a monthly charge for it because the programming is downloaded via a phone line, but after being a customer of theirs for a couple of years, I negotiate my monthly service charge stating that I could go with a cable DVR for cheaper and low and behold they lowered my monthly service fee. They have great customer service. Check out their website www.TiVo.com.

A TiVo doesn't record things into DVD's or VHS tapes. It reocrds them into the TiVo. When you are ready to watch something you recorded. You just press the list button, and it gives you a list (on your TV screen) of all your recordings. You just press select.

A "DVD recorder" makes DVD discs.

TiVo is basically a hard-drive based recording machine; you can set it up to record shows, like a VCR, but it also will let you watch live shows, and it records as you watch, letting you pause or even go back during the show. You can also fast-forward prerecorded shows.

It's basically a fancy VCR. We have one and love it.

TiVo can record liv tv and play it back to you and you can pause it and fast forward and rewind it. It basically just a media center computer hooked to your cable.
