My husband is a shy guy in many ways, and what I liked about him was that he exuded trustworthiness, honesty, and kindness. However, when we met, our children were already grown up and we were at a stage in our lives where we were probably looking for something different than we looked for when we were young.
There are women out there who are looking for the quiet guys. However, you may have to look in different places to find them. And the type of social life they are looking for may not be the usual bar scene or partying.

The rare shy guy is more than all right with me because he is more focused on how someone else thinks and feels. He is more interested in what I want or don't want. He becomes more attractive to me as he starts to realize that I am truly interested in him, what he is saying, what he is doing, etc. (At this point, He starts to radiate confidence)
He is not all wrapped up in himself. He knows what SHARING is. Most of the time, the rare shy guy has it going on, but because he is so shy and is not so inclined to discuss his life views/interests, he doesn't realize it.
'Most shy guys don't have a successful life" -- depends on what you call successful. Quality? Quantity?
I am a woman and if I get ONE great date with a really good guy once a year, I believe I have had a succesful social life.
On the other hand, if I have a lot of dates in a year with a bunch of cretins, know it alls, deadbeats, etc I believe I am not successful.

Probably his looks and sex appeal would play a big part in the initial attraction.
There are guys who are shy and quiet, yet don't lack confidence. Underneath the shyness, you can tell they have a quiet inner security - they are comfortable with their own shyness. That's very attractive.
Other guys, usually quite young ones, are inexperienced and shy simply because of that. You can tell it is something they will grow out of, and it can be very charming. I suppose some women might think it would be nice to bring him out of his shell and give him some confidence.

I am awfully fond of shy guys! They always get my attention. Well there is a huge difference between 'painfully shy' and being quiet, unassuming and attractive. Probably it is the painfully shy guys who find it hard to get women, but if I were to see a bloke, who is not too outgoing but has lots of respect for women.... I will definitely go for him.
And from experience I can say that the quiet guys always work harder when they are in a relationship to please their women. I know it is too much of a generalisation, but then again it is just my personal experience.

the fact thtat he's different. (personally i like mr. confident) but some girls mistake confidence for cokyness and just want a change of pace. Other girls want to take mr. shy and turn him into something he isnt just to prove she could...and still other girls want to talk to the shy guy because they figure since he;s shy she wont have to deal with any macho bullsh*t...

I love shyness in a guy because it lends sweetness and mystery. Plus I love comfortable silences. It's hard to get that with the overconfident types who never seem to know when to shut the hell up and are always attention-whoring. They are tiresome to be around and I can't imagine growing old with one of those.

Well, his looks might have something to do with it but, mainly, it's his desire to actually listen and not try to "sell" me on his agenda while showing me how wrapped up in himself he seems to be. Not every confident man is selfish, but there are enough who are and that makes a quiet man very attractive.

May be "the shy guy" has a good and smooth body perfume
or a huge c**ck.... who knows. Women want to find out by themselves. And the silent type of man is mostly carrying a
sweet secret ... Who knows...

I find that some of them men who are shy and laid-back with women, actually, have plenty of sex appeal. And, the fact that it is so subtle and cute is more than I can bear!

To me, shy guys are quiet and understanding..
Most women don't like guys who are cocky, arrogant or big-headed... but still has to be manly either way..
