I own both
Donkeys are very different they respond VERY WELL to reward but never to punishment (you can whip a donkey over and over and if it doesnt want to move ... it probably wont.. but if you bribe it with a carrot it will move)
they are thinkers.. meaning if they are concerned they look and think "is it safe" rather than a horse who will freak out and not think about things or will proceed anyhow

I wouldnt say they are stubbon as much as they are thinkers

they LOVE attention.. as soon as I turn the light on in the house in the morning my donkey starts calling me to come out.. or if we drive up the driveway she starts talking then too...

they HATE DOGS and will kill coyotees or dogs they are not familiar with.. I had one kick a sheep who was seperated from the other sheep and baahing and acting upset.. nearly killed the sheep.. I think the donkey thought the sheep was dead but it was knocked out....

you can ride them but certainly not with the ease like a horse....

The most interesting thing about the relationship between donkeys and horses is they are one of the only pairs of animals who can sucessfully breed though they are different animals. The resulting foal is a mule.
Both the donkey and the horse (as well as the Zebra and the ancient and still-wild Przewalski's Horse) are all found under the genus of Equus - meaning they are all in the same family and are hooved, herbavorial mammals. Also, the actual biological differences between the four are only found on a chromosomal level - in the DNA, their body composition is practically identical.
The bottom line is they're different only in certain aspects of personality and looks. Much like humans from different parts of the world look different, so do the members of the Equus family. Each one adapting in coat, color, height, and personality to fit it's environment best.
Donkeys tend (though not always) to be more stubbourn, more hardy, and less flighty than horses. While horses are more versatile, agile, and prone to the fight or flight response.
Donkeys are used in the same basic ways as horses, as animals of burden to carry loads and riders, although the horses' natural predisposition to swiftness, agility, and trust in it's leader (i.e. the rider) lends it to a much greater range of uses like those mentioned: jumping, dressage, hack, etc.
HOWEVER I have personally seen a jumping donkey and it was adorable!
The mule has aspects of both the donkey and the horse, although it is always sterile (can not produce babies). Mules are very tall, have long ears, faces, legs, and backs, with a donkey like mane and tail but a horses' agility and a naturally smooth gait that lends itself to a very comfortable ride.

Hope that helps.

In my opinion, donkeys are a bit more confident than horses. What I mean by that is a horse is more easily trained, tricked and bribed into doing things than a donkey. A donkey will be a bit more hard headed and testing of you and will basically act as its own boss. I think donkeys are fun and cute, but they are definitely loaded with a mind of their own, horses are just more pliable.

Donkeys and horses are actually closely related, although they don't appear to be. Donkeys can be stubborn, but alot of them are willing to please. horses are like this too, but mostly the 2 just want to please their masters. Donkeys can be ridden, but mostly for smaller people and they might be stubborn. horses can be ridden, and come in all shapes, sizes, and heights. horses can jump and do dressage, while donkeys can't. hope this is enough info!

Worst kick replaced into whilst i replaced into approximately 15, My previous horse all started kicking out at yet another horse (no longer playfully and it replaced into truly on the edge of the legs), so stupidly I ran over, and shouted because of fact he many times stops being naughty, apparently no longer this time, he in basic terms circled and kicked me precise interior the section. It broke like 4 ribs! i haven't had a adverse chew, although final year a mare in warmth desperate she replaced into indignant that i might taken her faraway from her paddock (i replaced into grooming her) and he or she bit my abdomen, It did no longer bleed yet for some reason that's scarred Lol. I might desire to in all probability think of issues via extra many times. :] I in no way study the final little sum up of the question :P COOKIES!
